Cast in bronze at an historic foundry in the Italian region of Lombardy, the Colombo Lamp is a sculptural exploration of form, texture and light. Its totemic silhouette, composed of a vertical sequence of organic, asymmetrical discs, draws inspiration from antique Sri Lankan candle holders and was originally conceived as a sculptural work.
Each limited-edition lamp originates from a hand-modelled clay sculpture, preserving the artist's fingerprints and subtle gestures. Through the traditional lost-wax casting process, every impression is faithfully translated into bronze, creating a richly textured surface where irregularities become part of the work's expressive character.
Finished with a deep, dark patina, the bronze softly catches and reflects light, revealing the complexity of its surface and form.
Both a functional object and sculptural artwork, the Colombo Lamp possesses a commanding presence both with or without illumination.
The lampshade is handcrafted in England from traditional Holland fabric in a rich chocolate brown, chosen to complement the warmth and depth of the bronze.
